| More than four out of every five
builders surveyed in the 1994 Professional Builder Brand Use
Study say that they use Owens-Corning pink in their
projects, a two-to-one margin over the next competing brand.
Even more telling, nearly three-quarters of those surveyed
said that they used O-C insulation to the exclusion of all
others, as opposed to only 12 percent who cited the second
place finisher.
The lead is attributable to many
factors. Not only does Owens-Corning win every brand
preference study among their homeowner customers as well,
and it continues to introduce innovative new products. The
firm’s new link of high-density insulation products are
engineered to meet changing energy codes, and also give
builders and extra selling point with energy-conscious home
buyers. New R-38C and R-30C insulation batts are designed
exclusively for cathedral ceilings. And, 5 ½-inch R-21 and
31/2inch R-15 provide maximum protection in exterior 2x6 and
2x4 walls, respectively.
Also on the product front,
Owens Corning recently added Pink Foamular extruded
polystyrene insulted sheathing and Pinkwrap housewrap to its
line of energy saving home building products. Foamular is
used in a variety of insulating applications, including
exterior sheathing and foundation insulation. It provides
high thermal resistance, strength and is easy to handle.
Pinkwrap boasts greater strength than the leading brands. It
also features attractive curb appeal, brand name recognition
and is semi-translucent for ease of
installation.
